Coaching for caregivers of complex kids…
Caregivers of children with unique developmental or health needs know there are seasons where the road is long and lonely. We show up without fail for our kids, day after day, year after year, with a strength that we never knew we had in us. Navigating evaluations, doctor appointments, specialists, special diets, teacher meetings, homeschool, public spaces, travel, work, relationships with family and friends - it all takes extra energy, strategy, patience, and perseverance that is often invisible to the world around us. Sometimes our social circles grow smaller in these intensive caregiving years, and it’s often when we need outside support more than ever.
And while this path is incredibly rewarding and forges us in ways we would never take back, it also takes a toll on our physical and emotional batteries. Sometimes the friend or mentor that we need in those times, the one who really gets it, who could help us recharge simply by being a safe and supportive listening ear, just doesn’t exist. Because as well-meaning as our loved ones and friends are, they often just don’t understand the way another caregiver would who has walked the same path. When I was in the thick of parenting and still figuring out how to move through each day and milestone, searching for the supports I needed, a coach who was also a parent of a child with special needs helped me find my way.
As a coach who is also a mom with her own story, I want to support you exactly where you are, without judgement, to offer you a regular window of time to hear your thoughts and create intentional next steps, to remember what inspires you, to notice boundaries of where you end and your child begins, and to feel supported by someone who gets it.
